By Matthew J. Ence, Shareholder–This past weekend, the City of Santa Clara, Utah, held its annual Swiss Days celebration. The two-day event is held on the fourth weekend in September each year, and commemorates the settlement of the Santa Clara valley by mainly Swiss immigrants in the early 1860s. The law firm of Snow Jensen & Reece was once again one of the major sponsors of this year’s Swiss Days events.
Santa Clara residents of all backgrounds and histories are proud to share Santa Clara’s rich heritage. Swiss Days is always popular with locals and visitors alike, and this year was no exception. Events included the Swiss Days parade, a Friday dinner, musical entertainment, 5K run, Saturday pancake breakfast served by city leaders and staff, vendor booths, family and oral history seminars, children’s activities, and various awards and honors. For the second year in a row, Santa Clara also hosted the Red Rocks Car Show, adding another great event to the many others already a part of Swiss Days. The Red Rocks Car Show is in its 13th year overall.
Swiss Days also provides the city a great opportunity to showcase its beautiful and walkable downtown streetscape, preserving the traditional tree-lined profile of Santa Clara Drive, and the Santa Clara Town Hall, now hosting the bulk of Swiss Days events on its grounds. The Town Hall also houses historical photos and information, as well as a beautiful mural honoring the journey of the early Swiss settlers from the foothills of the Swiss Alps to the Santa Clara valley.
Several of our great staff members at Snow Jensen & Reece are residents of Santa Clara, as are shareholders V. Lowry Snow, Curtis M Jensen, Matthew J. Ence, and Joshua R. Forest. Snow Jensen & Reece looks forward to continuing to support Swiss Days into the foreseeable future.
