The Second Amendment guarantees the right of the individual to keep and bear arms, even if they are not part of a militia. U.S. Constitution, Second Amendment; see also District of Columbia v. Heller, 128 S. Ct. 2783, 2788 (2008).
Too much regulation on the use of the guns so that it effectively bars the individual’s right to keep and bear arms is unconstitutional. Id. Now that these rights have been finally clarified by the Supreme Court, we’ll see how the new gun control commission that the President is putting together holds up and what they come up with and how their proposals will measure up to the Second Amendment.
